"El Catrina" draws its concept from two distinctive Mexican elements: Day of the Deads and the traditional Mexican cantina. From Day of the Deads, inspiration is derived for the design, such as patterns from papel picado, the niches of cemeteries, indirect lighting resembling candlelight, among other elements. These are translated into lighting intentions, lattice work, patterns, and other architectural elements.

From the cantina, the experience is drawn upon, which is sought to be incorporated into the space and the cuisine of "El Catrina." The dichotomy of day and night is also important. The aim is to create different atmospheres during the day and night, achieved through lighting that emphasizes daytime shadows cast by lattices and at night highlights elements like niches or shelves that reinterpret the geometry of the offerings to the deceased faithful.
